Certain ‘things’ we feel or see are actually not there. Do they exist? Somehow, result of self suggestion, a patology, or maybe just becau- se of a reflection, we do perceive them, we see them or feel them. But they don’t exist. On the other hand, sometimes ‘things’ are just there, but we can not see them or feel them, or both. We don’t know how to or we just don’t want to, sometime we just ignore them.

What is the relationship between inside and outside? It is not so simple. Does private starts where public ends? At first glance, we might think about space as a physical concept, but what if we think about space as our body, our memory or our property? These are very relative and subjective concepts; it is a matter of perception.

You and I could be together, having coffee. But abstraction makes it so ambiguous that I could feel alone, if I perceive you elsewhere, distant, despite our physical proximity.

The established commercial systems, the technological progress, as well as the gradual disappearance of social groups such as family, politics and religion, until now pillars of our society are feeding a phenomenon called super individualism, which leads to a state of permanent consumerism, loneliness and in satisfaction.

Our survival and happiness is based on the quality of our relationships.
‘Play the Apes’ is an installation that aims to encourage people to interact with it and between each other. Users get link by using the installation. The experience creates ephimeral but real relations between people. The ‘Play the Ape‘ is about the emotions produced by social relations.

Excited Colors

The 'Victims' hybrid project, a synergy between video and sculpture that reflects about subconsciousness and inner irrational forces. 

The video studies the emotional qualities of light. It aims to cross the barrier of consciousness, reaching the depths of the spacial system that hosts the desire, our subconscious. 

The sculptures are caged apes that represent the inner irrational forces we all have inside as human beings. Victims of our social rules, these lonely animals are obliged to be hidden.

Psychologist and neuroscientist latest discoveries point that we use intuition more than we though. In those decisions where we don’t have much time to reflect or think, quite daily in our contemporary society, our brain reacst using intuition.

For intuition we intend inmediate cognition without the use of rational processes.

Whatever future is possible passes by understand how to combine the last discoveries in technology and materials with traditional knowledges, adquired through time, experience and history’.

‘Crowd behavior is heavily influenced by the loss of responsibility of the individual and the impression of universality of behavior, both of which increase with the size of the crowd. These facts sound like negative things. Instead if the goal of the crowd is right and fair, these kinds of crowd behaviors might be just the key for this collective collaborative awareness to happen.

Although we might tend to refer to crowds as a negative phenomenon, throughout history, crowds have demonstrated the potential to produce positive reactions. Crowds can reflect and challenge the held ideologies of their sociocultural environment.’

With this idea as starting point, ’Mind the Crowd’ recalls the importance of setting common goals and displays the possibilities of collective collaborative actions.

The project, a synergy of disciplines, blends sculpture, installation, urban intervention, propaganda and documentary photography. 25 semi-figurative sculptures collaborate together to form a bigger entity. ‘Mind the Crowd‘ intervene in different parts of the public space targeting an unfiltered, heterogeneous segment of the population.
