The Open Call for DESIGN Kuopio Residency Programme 2022 is open!

The DESIGN Kuopio Residency provides designers time and space to focus on their production or research and pedagogical experience through teaching workshops at Kuopio Academy of Design.

The Residency Program is connected to Kuopio Academy of Design’s basic studies curriculum, themed around the history of Finnish design from the Stone Age to the Future. The 2022 semester is dedicated to Finnish Postmodernism and its extravagant vibes in design. The Designer in residence is expected to give a workshop for our basic studies groups in Children’s, Teens’, Adults’ and online Design Academies according to the project proposal which should be suitable for the fall 2022 theme.

The DESIGN Kuopio Residency Open Call is open for four different designers/artists. We are looking for a designer who specializes in

FASHION/clothing design from August 29 – September 4 FURNITURE/chairs from September 26 – October 2 ADVERTISEMENT/stop-motion animation from October 24 – 30 KINETIC SCULPTURE/mobiles from November 14 – 20

The designer in residence is expected to give workshops from Monday to Thursday for a one week period of time as follows: • Children’s Design Academy for 7–9 year olds on Monday at 5–7.30 pm • Online Design Academy on Tuesday at 10–12.30 am • Children’s Design Academy for 10–12 year olds on Tuesday at 5–7.30 pm • Adults’ Design Academy on Wednesday at 5–8 pm • Teen’s Design Academy on Thursday at 4.30–7 pm
