Virtual Event | In collaboration with COLLECTIVE PRACTICES, Omonblanks will document conversations with people from the Black and African communities living in Berlin, and make connections between Berlin and Accra/Lagos. The conversations examine lived experiences during the current pandemic moment. How are we experiencing this period? What are we learning? What visions for the future are emerging? How are we addressing struggles and anxieties? What roles do collectives and community play at the current moment? The Berlin conversations form part of a wider series of conversations held with people internationally.
When: June to September 2020. Virtual conversations will take place throughout June.
Event in Berlin | KEWENIG is pleased to reopen the Berlin gallery after a two-month closing period with an exhibition by Bernd Koberling, “Am Rande der Mündung“ (On the edge of the Estuary), focusing on oil paintings from the past two years. A roughly 10-year work phase…leads him to a new stage where he burnishes his paintings to obtain a smooth surface that is reminiscent of his earlier work group of “Plattenbilder” (1999-2011). The exhibition title describes this meeting of two currents and thus the place where the artist situates his work at the moment.
