STOPMO SATURDAYS // BOOGIE&BURKE STOP-MOTION ANIMATION WORKSHOP

StopMo Saturdays is a series of hands-on workshops where we'll teach you the basics of frame-by-frame animation and sound design.
This very first episode will feature plasticine and your cellphone as tools. Plasticine is a cheap gateway to another dimension. But kids know it as Play Doh. Yes, we're going to go all-out on the colored goodies.

The aim is to open your mind to the crazy possibilities of stop motion animation, teach you some fundamental skills and help you make your own video within one afternoon.

It's a beginner's course, so no prior knowledge is needed. Only the right attitude matters. In an action-packed 6-8 hour workshop, you'll learn how to bring to life inanimate objects using only the minimum of materials required. And then add the sounds to it. You'll soon find out that the sky is the limit when it comes to StopMo animation. As a bonus, we'll also learn how to design the sounds for your animation!

By the end, you'll have learned
- how to utilize clay + your cellphone (or a small camera) to make animations
- a skill you can use in many different situations (including gifts for friends, or just a fun pastime)
- Understanding the relationship audio has to animation and how to add another dimension to your animation by inserting sound FX into the video
- to prepare for our advanced level course
- to take life one frame at a time ^ ^

What to bring:
- a laptop
- a smartphone with a working camera, or a handheld camera
- USB cables in case you want to transfer files from/to your devices
- if you have some personal object you want to animate with, bring it :)
- some humor and a little imagination.
