Refugee Photography Project
by Kate Hollett
The disposable camera had been traditionally used for weddings. Created by Kate Hollett, “Picture This” repurposes the camera as objects of diaspora expression, fundraising, awareness and, to help capture a process. Compared to a digital instant image, the process requires many phases, take a picture, develop the film, print the negatives, scan – until a final image is revealed. Like that of the refugee process, it takes time and dependence on systems
The Exhibit will consist of the disposable photography by Syrian refugees in Berlin since Nov. 2015. Posters have been created from selected pictures for exhibit & sale. All funds will go to the refugees support. Participants are from the Intake Centre at Moabit and a shelter in Friedrichshain, Berlin.
With Akrum Alshaar, Mohamad Atwah, Deaa Alhak Kasem and Mohamed Younes.
