The Berlin art book fair MISS READ will take place between 14–16 July at HAUS DER KULTUREN DER WELT. Throughout the weekend, a wide selection of over 230 international publishers, art periodicals, artists and authors will be featured. With this year’s special focus on the U.K., MISS READ will be composed of a series of lectures, discussions, book launches and workshops, with the common mission of exploring the boundaries of contemporary publishing and the possibilities of the book. Founded in 2009, MISS READ is dedicated to building community and creating a public meeting place for discourse around artists’ books, conceptual publications and publishing as practice.
Friday, July 14, MISS READ STAGE will host a talk by ARCH+ and present a panel on critical architecture theory, utopias and discursive practice. Followed by the mini-symposium What’s Love (or Care, Intimacy, Warmth, Affection) Got to Do with It? organized by e-flux and Sternberg Press, featuring AA Bronson, Antonia Majaca, Julieta Aranda and others.
On Saturday, July 15, the 5th Conceptual Poetics Day will explore the imaginary border between visual art and literature. The program will include readings, lectures, performances and book launches by Simon Morris (Information as Material), Sharon Kivland (MA BIBLIOTHEQUE), Paul Stephens (Convolution Journal), Derek Beaulieu, Cia Rinne, Pavel Büchler and others.
On Sunday, July 16, the MISS READ STAGE will hold lectures, book launches by Drucken Heften Laden, Eva Weinmayr (AND Publishing), Ana Bilbao (Afterall), Spector Books, and a symposium on collecting and exhibiting publications, organized in collaboration with Zentrum für Künstlerpublikationen Weserburg and featuring presentations by Anne Thurmann-Jajes among others.
The full programme is available on www.missread.com/stage-2017
In order to keep MISS READ alive, we occasionally publish fundraising editions, which are generously created by artists such as Pavel Büchler, John Stezaker, Cia Rinne, Haris Epaminonda, Eugen Gomringer and Karl Holmqvist.
