About the Day of the Dead
The Mexican Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is an ancient tradition that is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd to honour the loved ones that are no longer with us. Mexicans view this day (November 2nd) not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration and unity. In 2008, the tradition, which is getting more popular around the world and in modern culture, was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO
