CALL FOR ARTISTS
OPEN ART LAB – GÖRLITZ IN PROGRESS
Artist Residency – 25th April to 30th May 2015
“ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2015 – Festival for Contemporary Art“ is looking for four Artists in Residence!
What is ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2015?
The ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2015 Festival is a voluntary project with a lot of enthusiasm, creativity and courage. It was founded by students in 2007. The concern of the festival is to focus on the low occupancy rate of buildings in Görlitz and to innervate the city with regional and international art.
We appreciate experienced artists as well as those who are at the beginning of their career. Accompanied by music, dance, literature and workshops, there arises a multifaceted program for the inhabitants and guests of Görlitz.
NEW IN 2015:
OPEN ART LAB – GOERLITZ IN PROGRESS // Artist Residency 25 April-30 May
For the first time, we aim to integrate an Artist Residency Program of five weeks into our concept. Four artists or groups of artists will be given the opportunity to live and create in Görlitz for this time.
The aim of the OPEN ART LAB is to deal intensively with the location and the subject of ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2015:
„zukünftig:GEMEINSAMKEIT“ // “future:TOGETHER”
In this context, we want to focus on the opposites of daily life in the city – and how they can change into similarities.
The base of your art work should be related to the following topics:
What to expect?
Our OPEN ART LAB will take place at various locations.
Central point of documentation, information and public meeting will be a transparent container which is placed at one or many different popular locations in the city. In addition to that, we will rent a vacant, glassed shopping gallery as an exhibition- and workspace. The creative process can take place in public – or at least sometimes visible for visitors and inhabitants. Accompanying the artist’s work, there is planned to be a framing program to support the interaction between visitors and artists. Therefore, you are welcome to offer workshops as well as events or live-performances at different places in the city including guests, visitors and casual passers-by.
With this, it is our aim to generate a sense of awareness, interaction, integration and to focus on a public creative process.
During the following festival (23 - 30 May), your work and the work of ten further artists who have been invited to take part in the festival itself will be exhibited in an abandoned house. An accommodation and a budget for your work material (600€) will be provided. We, the ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2015-Team, will support you by all available means and are dedicated to make your stay a comfortable and successful one. Furthermore, you will receive a pay of 800 Euro for your work and stay at the Residence.
A jury will decide over which applying artists are given the opportunity to take part in the Residency. Our jury consists of one of our team members und four experts:
Verena Andreas, gallery owner, Galerie Module, Dresden
Ulf Großmann, president of Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachen
Hector Solari, curator und artist
Andreas Schanzenbach, CEO Kreativagentur Cromatics, Paint Club Dresden
Lydia Göbel, team member, BA English Studies and History of Art
