Branding, corporate and visual identity are the tools we use to present ourselves to the world. Nowadays, almost everyone, whether we are a company, a freelancer, an association or a specific event, we need a visual identity. In one way or another, we must communicate who we are, what we do and what differentiates us from the rest. And it is not an easy task to decide how we present ourselves to the world.
Designing is basically thinking. Good design responds to a deep intellectual process, an effective communicative solution is not to make “pretty things”. It is much more complicated, but much more exciting. The primary objective of this workshop is therefore that students think.
The goal of the workshop is to stimulate the critical and analytical capacity of the students, reflecting on it, understanding the principles of design and corporate identity and giving them tools, knowledge and resources to design their identity and to improve their visual communication.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
This workshop is made for people who want to design their visual identity for themselves as freelancers, for a company, association, project or an event, but the workshop is also thought for those who want to learn about corporate design and graphic design in general.
To get that purpose, we will review the history of brands, graphic design and corporate identity. We will study the basics of graphic design, we will see the different approaches to design in order to have a broader vision and our own criteria.
The attendants will design their own visual identity. In every session they will present the development of their identity and we will make a collective analysis to get feedback and to work on the identity with solvency, enthusiasm and commitment.
At the end of the workshop, the participants will have a personal and professional visual identity with all the applications that might be needed, as logotype, website, business cards...

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Jorge Chamorro (Madrid, 1972) is a graphic designer, teacher and artist. Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1995, he worked for ten years as a graphic designer in several studios and agencies, until he set up his own studio in Madrid in 2005, where he develops communication projects for different clients. He combines his work as a designer with teaching graphic design and collage. Besides designing and teaching, he develops artistic projects, mainly collages. He has exhibited regularly in a variety of venues around the world and his work has been published in many international media. Since 2013 he lives and works in Berlin and Madrid.
