Focusing on improvisation and physical practices. Physically, energetically, and interactively demanding. Are you ready to dive deep?
The P.O.R.C.H. Physical Module is one of the three modules of P.O.R.C.H., a facilitated training and research program, taking place at Ponderosa, Stolzenhagen, outside Berlin, in the summer of 2019.
The P.O.R.C.H. Physical Module is for artists, dancers, improvisers, movement practitioners, and performers who are interested in a physical discourse which engages methods of contemporary dance training, somatic investigation, and improvisational forms. Focusing on improvisation and physical practices, this module is facilitated by Kathleen Hermesdorf, with weekly and weekend sessions by international guest artists.
In the P.O.R.C.H. Physical Module, we move, dance, improvise, and partner for around six hours a day, with special workshops, discussions, jams, saunas, performances, gardening and countryside walks. We also undertake tasks that affect the land and communities in the village of Stolzenhagen.
Participants in the module are a small and focused group, and receive individual, one-on-one mentoring and support, alongside working with the group as an entity. This unique and empowering social and artistic undertaking, with its strictly limited numbers, allows unparalleled creative development in an idyllic countryside setting.
The module focuses on practices that are grounded in the body and its intuition, in inquiry, and in instincts, incorporating artistic practices, life processes, professional development, and theoretical concerns around embodiment.
The P.O.R.C.H. Physical Module will feature an array of special guest artists, from various backgrounds and disciplines, all contributing unique perspectives to the module. 2019 will be the tenth anniversary of the P.O.R.C.H. program, which first started in 2010. In recognition of this milestone, many of the invited guests will be those who have contributed to P.O.R.C.H. over this time — as participants, teachers, musical and artistic accompanists, and more.
In 2019, these guests will be Christine Bonansea, Kovács/O’Doherty (Kata Kovács and Tom O’Doherty), Stephanie Maher, Peter Pleyer, Witchtits (Zinzi Buchanan and Alicia Grant), and Ayelet Yekutiel.
