The first preserved photograph is a view from the window of Nicéphore Niépce's studio. Since then the interaction between window frames and image border has been a theme that artists have continually reinvented in the most diverse ways. The view outside is often an observation into our inner life.
The exhibition shows views from windows, into windows, along windows... windows which for all their fragility represent an often uncrossable threshold. A window as a hole which we cannot pass through except with the ideas, wishes and imaginations that accompany our vision. This is a freedom denied to the body.
In spite of the thematic clarity of the exhibition the formality of the work presented examines many different perspectives. The techniques range from classical prints, photo animation, photo installation to Diasec-images and cyanotypes.
